Funeral to Ahmed Rubel with floral tributes, burial in Gazipur





People from all walks of life, including stage, film and TV drama producers, actors, crew, bid farewell to actor Ahmed Rubel with full respect and love.

Ahmed Rubel died of heart disease while attending the premiere show of the movie 'Pearar Subas' at the Star Cineplex in Bashundhara City, Dhaka on Wednesday afternoon. He was 55 years old.

Ahmed Rubel's body was taken to the National Theater Plaza of the National Arts Academy at 10:30 am today to pay his last respects. On the initiative of Dhaka Theatre, tributes were paid to him till 12:30 noon.


Nasir Uddin Yusuf said, Rubel played the role of martyr Altaf Mahmud in the movie "Amar Guerrilla". Rubel did a great job. The memories of that time are still vivid in my mind.

Mamunur Rashid said, 'He was very dear to me. Played the lead role in my serial “Zindabahar”. He was very loyal to me.

Ramendu Majumder said, 'There are very few talented actors like him in our country. His appearance and voice still ring in the ears.


Member of Parliament and actor Ferdous said, "Rubel Bhai passed away prematurely." We all have to go, but an untimely departure is unacceptable. His simplicity, extraordinary performance impressed me. May his soul rest in peace.

Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Charki, producer Redwan Rony said, ""Guava Fragrance" has acted strangely. The character is like an angel. We have decided that the film will be dedicated to his memory.


Several organizations including Dhaka Theatre, Awami League's Central Cultural Affairs Subcommittee, Gram Bangla Theatre, Abhinay Shilpi Sangh, Charki, Alpha Eye have paid tribute to Ahmed Rubel at Shilpakala Academy.

Rubel's body was taken to the premises of Channel I after paying tribute at the Academy of Fine Arts. After the first janaza there, the body was taken to North Chhayabeethi of Gazipur city. The representative of Prothom Alo, Gazipur said that friends, relatives, neighbors and fans have been thronging since Ahmed Rubel's body arrived home.


Many talented artists have also come. They are crying. Some have memorialized him. He was buried at the Gazipur City Corporation graveyard after his Janaza at Rajbari ground after Asar. He studied at Rani Vilasmani Government Boys High School, Gazipur. His father Professor Ayesh Uddin led the cultural activities for a long time as the General Secretary of Gazipur District Shilpakala Academy.
